Ice Throw Modeling
We assess, on a project-specific basis, the safety risks posed by ice fragments that can form on wind turbine blades in cold climates and either fall or be thrown from a rotating blade.
Risk zones are defined by taking into account meteorological conditions, turbine geometry, and nearby roads, facilities and other sensitive receptors. Based on the results, we develop measures such as access control, warning systems, ice detection, automatic shutdown and appropriate safety distances to support community and worker safety.
